Isabelle is a precocious 9-year-old girl who is always getting herself into trouble while on a trip to Paris with her mom.  The book focuses on the 300 highest frequency words in French, but the book has a total of 2500 words.  Students of French rapidly understand the book because it uses a high number of cognates and recycles important vocabulary. The book contains a glossary and a cultural glossary of places in Paris that Isabelle visits.  The book is set in Paris and the book reflects the French culture that surrounds her.
